Hockey withdrawal

Less than two days after Anaheim wins the Stanley Cup and I'm bumbling around the house wondering what there is to do. Training camp is months away. It's hard, too, to get excited about the upcoming draft. I suppose, then, that I should start putting away some pucks.

There's always the possibility of mailing a few requests here and there. Hall of Fame, home addresses, things like that.

Of course you'll have to stick to cards and photos instead of sticks, jerseys, and pucks, but it's better than nothing.

That's a good idea. I can finally get around to sending cards to Chris Chelios.

It was weird, though, that last night was the first Saturday since early October that I hadn't watched some sort of hockey.

For me it was strangest once the NAHL season here had ended. I was doing that every weekend and back in October, I was expecting to be traveling and announcing well into April. And then we missed the playoffs, the coach got fired, the business manager quit, and everything just sort of went to hell in a handbasket. But it's all back on track now.

If you're interested, I also have a new Mark Messier address that should work.

Also, I'll be e-mailing you later this week about something. SFO, the site I was writing for, has shut down, but may be reopening with a new director, and we want to find some active, sports-related blogs that we can link to.
